NEW YORK – The Harry Potter movie series started in 2001, when the first movie adapted after a J.K. Rowling novel was presented. In the decade that followed the audience proved to be hungry for some young wizard fiction, and the movie, as well as the book, became huge sensations. After the super successful premiere of the eighth and final movie “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2″, it’s safe to say, it will not be any less successful than its fore comers.
The blockbuster movie has an enormous fan base on Amplicate as well. Out of almost 200,000 opinions left on Twitter, Facebook and Amplicate, 85 percent of those opinions are positive. In addition to that, the two leading stars of the movie Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson are videly loved among the Amplicate community as well. With 96 percent of positive opinions Emma Watson came just above Daniel Radcliffe, who gathered 94 percent of positive opinions. If you have an opinion on the third Harry Potter star, Rupert Grint, you should go and vote for him, as he has collected the lowest number of opinions so far.
Although the positive sentiments on Harry Potter always overtake the number of negative opinions, there was a huge spike in opinions in November 2011, when “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1″ was released. After a drop of collected opinions in the first months of 2011, another spike followed in March, when the final movie of the series began its promotion. In June, the final month before the premiere, Harry Potter wasn’t as widely discussed as in March, so it will be interesting to see what the data for July 2011 will show. If the premiere frenzy is anything to go by, the chart will reach another high.
The many fans of the movie series love Harry Potter because hey feel it represents important values and teaches children who watch it to be kind, honest and fair. The Harry Potter admirers also want to make it clear that the movie shouldn’t be compared to “Twilight”, as it has far more substance. Or as one Amplicate user tells it:”This is the movie I grew up with, I could never hate it.”
Those who hate Harry Potter, hate it for the exactly same characteristics the movie’s fans claim it doesn’t have. They say it’s childish, pointless and lacks any real story. “It’s the most boring typical movie I’ve ever had the misfortune to come across in my whole entire life,” says an Amplicate user.
Amplicate is an online opinion collating resource that accounts for more than 100 million public opinions of social media users.
